What is Hypnosis and clinical hypnosis?

Hypnotherapy provides a most effective method to understand and heal the roots of psychological problems and create changes in mental processes and behaviours. It is increasingly being seen by the general public and professionals alike as a highly effective therapy for a wide variety of psychological, behavioural and psychosomatic problems.

I aim to help people find meaningful alternatives to their present, unsatisfactory ways of thinking, feeling or behaving and to transform the lives of people who have been programmed over the years for failure, frustration and unhappiness.

When most people think about Hypnosis or Hypnotherapy, or when it is reported in the press they are almost always referring to “clinical Hypnosis”. Clients are relaxed into a light to medium state of Hypnosis by the Hypnotherapist and whilst in this highly suggestible state are given a number of carefully worded suggestions designed to have an impact upon the symptoms that have been consulted for.

Along with positive suggestions you will be encouraged to use visualisation techniques to help you to tap into your powerful imagination known to influence your thoughts and feelings quite significantly. There is a well-known saying in Psychological circles which states that “if you can’t imagine it, you can’t achieve it” and there is a lot of evidence to support this view.

It is these new strategies of visualisation and thinking that can have a very positive effect on the way that you feel and help you to deal with your Phobia or Worries in a new way.

You actually remain in full control during a session. You are fully capable of talking if you wish to and can stand up and leave the room at any time. A person in hypnosis cannot be made to do anything against their usual ethical, moral or religious beliefs.

Undoubtedly "virtually anyone", with the exception of those suffering from psychosis, heavily under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medication. It has been observed that some people are more readily hypnotisable than others and that will also depend upon one’s willingness to be hypnotised at the time of the session.

Every client is unique and individual and so are their needs so I never pre-empt how many sessions may be required. This will depend entirely on feedback, progress made and outcomes achieved.

My role will be to assist you with appropriate methods to manage your pain and to guide you in your path of health and recovery. Hypnotherapy can be a wonderful self-help tool and empowers you to take charge of your health.

If you suspect there is a physical cause for a problem you want assistance with then your Doctor should be consulted in the first instance. I will always take a thorough consultation and will ask you about your current level of medication and its use.

The simple answer to that is no as I cannot make you do anything against your will. If you are being sent by a partner or Doctor then it is not your choice and that your desire to smoke again would rapidly return. You alone have to take full responsibility for your health.
